School services

Occupational therapists work with children in a variety of settings, including schools. At Leaps and Bounds, we work closely with local schools to ensure students are supported throughout their education. As children grow and develop, they learn to do many things, including taking care of themselves, managing their school work, playing sports or developing a leisure interest. Sometimes, children have more problems than is typical for their age with motor skills. This can make everyday activities a challenge to learn and master. In schools, occupational therapists focus on academics, play and leisure, social participation, self-care skills, and transition skills. Occupational therapy’s expertise includes activity and environmental analysis and modification with a goal of reducing the barriers to participation.
